Still in the process of getting settled in, our multiphoton microscope arrived last week, and our new spaces are taking shape. Looking forward to getting the lab and research set up again in our beautiful new space!
We’re excited to say that over the course of next year’s summer the Franck Lab will settle into its new home in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. More news to follow as we get closer to the actual move. Go Badgers!
Check out the short science segment on NBC 10 for our work and new ONR grant on TBI! http://turnto10.com/features/health-landing-page/brown-university-researchers-study-how-traumatic-brain-injuries-occur
The Franck Lab in collaboration with Team Wendy, and researchers at Brown, Drexel and Sandia National Labs is setting out to develop a predictive framework for traumatic brain injuries. By understanding how impact forces alter the biological response of cells in the brain the goal is to utilize this information to inform the development of …
Congratulations to Mohak, whose paper, “Beyond DIC- Displacement Mapping via Position-based Single Particle Tracking”, won this prestigious award!
Jon won the Outstanding Thesis Award, which is given annually by the School of Engineering to the graduate student that presented the most outstanding thesis.
Jon presented his defense titled “Microcavitation as a Neural Cell Damage Mechanism in an In vitro Model of Blast Traumatic Brain Injury” on Thursday, May 4, 2017. In attendence were committee members Dr. Christian Franck, Dr. David Henann, and Dr. Diane Hoffman-Kim along with a standing-room only audience full of family, friends, and supporters. Jon …
Starting Jan 2017 the Franck Lab in conjunction with the Johnsen and Xu groups at Michigan, the Colonius group at Caltech and the Hennan lab at Brown will be investigating the finite deformation, time-dependent material response of soft matter due to inertial cavitation.
Franck lab had a great time at SES 2016 and presented the following talks.
